Definitive High-Fidelity Music System, Satara, Maharashtra
Satara, Maharashtra
The Client’s Vision
This Satara project was all about absolute musical purity. The client had a deep love for old Hindi music, classical recordings, and old-new Marathi songs, and he wanted a system that could reproduce those genres with natural tone, warmth, and emotional realism. Budget was not a limitation, which gave us the freedom to explore multiple high-end options and focus entirely on matching the best possible sonic character to the client’s listening preferences.
After evaluating several possibilities, we proposed Sonus Faber Aida because it offered the most natural and lifelike sound presentation for this kind of music. The client wanted a system that would sound effortless, refined, and musically believable rather than aggressive or overly analytical. The final result had to be a proper reference-level HiFi system that respected the client’s taste, preserved musical detail, and delivered long-term listening pleasure without fatigue.

Design Challenge
The Design Challenge
The challenge was not budget, but refinement. Since the client had no financial restriction, the real task was to choose components that worked together musically and emotionally, not just technically. The loudspeakers, amplification, source components, cabling, rack system, and power conditioning all had to support a natural sound signature that suited vocal music, classical performances, and traditional Marathi recordings. The system also had to integrate the client’s existing SME Model 15 turntable seamlessly.
Speaker System
Speaker System
The loudspeakers were the heart of this project, and Sonus Faber Aida was the obvious choice once we understood the client’s sonic priorities. This speaker is known for its rich, natural, and highly musical presentation, which made it ideal for listening to old Hindi vocals, Indian classical material, and well-recorded Marathi songs. It brought warmth, scale, and elegance to the room without making the sound artificial or overly bright.
Sonus Faber Aida
This flagship speaker was selected for its ability to produce a deeply natural and emotionally engaging sound. Its tonal balance suited the client’s preferred music genres perfectly, especially recordings where vocal timbre, string texture, and instrumental warmth matter most. In a system built around musical realism, Aida offered the right combination of detail, richness, and effortless presentation.
McIntosh MC1.2KW Monoblock Amplifiers
These amplifiers were chosen after the client rejected the initially suggested alternative, and they proved to be a powerful match for the Aida speakers. They delivered high current, strong control, and the authority needed to let the speakers perform with confidence. The result was a system that sounded full, dynamic, and stable even during demanding passages.
McIntosh C2500 Preamplifier with DAC
The C2500 added refinement and flexibility to the system by combining a high-quality preamplifier section with a built-in high-resolution DAC. This allowed the system to handle digital music sources cleanly while maintaining McIntosh’s smooth and musical character. It played a key role in keeping the system both practical and audiophile-grade.

Source and Playback
Source and Playback
The client already owned an SME Model 15 turntable, and it was integrated carefully into the system so that vinyl listening remained a central part of the experience. For digital playback, the McIntosh MCT450 SACD/CD transport and Apple Airport Express were added, giving the client access to physical media and convenient AirPlay streaming. This combination allowed the system to serve both serious listening sessions and easy daily use.
SME Model 15 Turntable
The SME Model 15 was a strong analog source and an important part of the system’s identity. It added a tactile, high-end vinyl experience that matched the client’s love for older recordings and classical music. Integrating it properly ensured that the system could fully honor the warmth and depth of analog playback.
McIntosh MCT450 SACD/CD Transport
This transport brought excellent disc playback quality and supported the client’s SACD/CD collection. It worked well within the McIntosh chain and preserved the clarity and musicality that this type of reference system requires. It added another serious source option to the system without disturbing its natural tonal balance.
Apple Airport Express
Airport Express was used for streaming via AirPlay, giving the client quick access to digital music without adding complexity. It made the system practical for everyday use while still keeping the focus on sound quality. This was a simple but useful addition for modern listening convenience.
Signal Integrity & Power
Signal Integrity and Power
To protect the signal path and preserve sonic purity, we used Neotech Grand Tri wire speaker cables and Kimber Kable interconnects throughout the system. These cables helped maintain transparency and stability from source to speaker, which is especially important in a high-resolution reference setup. PS Audio power purifiers were also included to keep the system clean and quiet, especially in a long-term listening environment where power quality matters.
Neotech Grand Tri Wire Speaker Cables
These cables were selected for their purity and ability to carry signal without adding color or loss. In a system like this, speaker cable quality matters because it supports the speaker’s natural character and preserves fine detail. The result was a more open and balanced sound from the Aida loudspeakers.
Kimber Kable Interconnects
Kimber interconnects helped maintain signal integrity between the system’s source and amplification components. They contributed to a clean, stable, and refined signal path. That was especially important in a system designed for natural musical reproduction.
PS Audio Power Purifiers
Power purification helped reduce noise and stabilize the electrical foundation of the system. This allowed the electronics to perform more consistently and helped preserve the calm, black background that a reference HiFi system needs. It was an important support element in a project of this caliber.
Equipment Rack & Integration
Equipment Rack and Integration
An Artesania Audio rack was used to support the electronics in a structured and acoustically sensible way. High-end rack design matters in a serious music system because it helps organize components cleanly and supports the overall presentation. In this project, the rack also helped maintain the premium, reference-system identity of the room.
