The Client’s Vision

This project in Hampi was created for a client who wanted an actual cinema-like experience with no budget restriction. The brief was extremely clear: the theatre had to feel like a true reference cinema in both scale and performance, with immersive sound, a massive screen, and a properly engineered projection room. The theatre room measured 1500 sq. ft., and we were also able to create a separate 175 sq. ft. projection room, which was important for maintaining a clean and professional cinema layout.
The client specifically wanted a dedicated 25.11 channel Dolby Atmos experience with premium audio, large-room surround consistency, and serious visual performance. From the beginning, the project was approached as a high-end private cinema rather than a standard home theatre. Every design decision was made to support the feeling of a genuine commercial-style movie environment inside a luxury residence.
Projection System
The Projection System — Large-Format CinemaScope Presentation
The projection system was designed to match the scale of the room and the ambition of the client. Since this was a large dedicated theatre with 30 seats, the screen and projector had to deliver a bold, immersive, and properly proportioned cinematic image. The result was a full CinemaScope-style presentation built around premium projection equipment and a large acoustically transparent screen.
Elite Screens 300″ 2.35:1 Acoustically Transparent Custom Screen
The theatre used a 300-inch 2.35:1 acoustically transparent custom-made Elite screen. This screen format was ideal for a dedicated cinema because it supported wide-format movie viewing and allowed the front speakers to sit behind the image surface. The acoustically transparent design also helped preserve correct dialogue anchoring and front-stage alignment.
JVC DLA-X900 Projector
The projection was handled by the JVC DLA-X900, a high-end D-ILA projector known for strong contrast and refined image quality. It was selected because a theatre of this level requires a projector that can deliver depth, black level performance, and cinematic consistency across a large screen. The projector played a key role in giving the room its true cinema identity.
Panamorph Anamorphic Lens
To achieve the full 2.35:1 CinemaScope image, we used a Panamorph anamorphic lens. This lens allowed the projector to make better use of the wide screen format and helped create a more theatrical presentation. In a room like this, the anamorphic lens is not just a visual accessory; it is a major part of the cinema experience because it helps the image feel larger, wider, and more immersive.
Speaker System
The Speaker System — Reference Immersion Across Every Seat
The acoustic design of this theatre was built around Ascendo speakers and a large multi-channel layout. Because the room was designed for 30 seats, the challenge was not only to create great sound, but to make sure that the surround experience remained convincing across a wide seating area. The speaker arrangement was therefore planned to deliver both power and coverage.

Ascendo CCRM 12-P
The front left, centre, and right channels used 3 Ascendo CCRM 12-P speakers. These speakers were responsible for the main screen sound, including dialogue, music, and front-stage impact. In a large theatre, the front channels must be strong and precise, and the CCRM 12-P speakers were selected for that exact purpose.
Ascendo CCRM 10-P
The surround back channels used 2 Ascendo CCRM 10-P speakers. These speakers helped complete the rear soundfield and added depth to the immersive soundstage. Their role was important in maintaining rear directionality and improving the three-dimensional feel of the theatre.
Ascendo CCRM 5-P
For the surround layer, we used 10 Ascendo CCRM 5-P speakers. These speakers created the side movement required for a proper Dolby Atmos theatre. Because the room was large and had many seats, the surround speakers needed to be distributed carefully to give as many audience positions as possible a full immersive experience.
Ascendo CCRM 5-P
The overhead Atmos layer used 8 Ascendo CCRM 5-P speakers for height coverage. These ceiling channels were responsible for height effects, overhead movement, and the vertical dimension that makes Dolby Atmos sound so realistic. Their role was to expand the soundfield above the audience and make the theatre feel more enveloping.
Ascendo CCRM 6-P
Two Ascendo CCRM 6-P speakers completed the overhead Atmos layer alongside the CCRM 5-P units. Together the 10 ceiling channels formed the full overhead dimension of the 25.11 configuration and ensured height effects reached the full width of the 30-seat audience area.
Ascendo SMS 12-P Subwoofers
Five Ascendo SMS 12-P subwoofers formed part of the large subwoofer array. In a theatre of this size, bass is essential because it gives impact, pressure, and weight to the soundtrack. This arrangement was chosen to support deep bass performance across the seating area and to maintain control even at higher playback levels.
Ascendo SMSG 10-P Subwoofers
Six Ascendo SMSG 10-P subwoofers completed the 11-subwoofer low-frequency section. Together with the SMS 12-P units, they provided the bass energy, impact, and scale needed for a cinema room, ensuring consistent pressure and control from the front row to the last seat.
Electronics
Electronics — High-End Processing and Amplification
The electronics package was built to handle a very large and complex channel count while still preserving clarity and stability. In a theatre with this many channels, the processor and amplifiers must work together with precision so the system can remain balanced, dynamic, and immersive. We selected components that could support the scale of the installation without compromising performance.
JBL Synthesis SDP-75
The heart of the theatre was the JBL Synthesis SDP-75, a 32-channel surround processor supporting Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro-3D. This processor was ideal for a room with a large number of speakers because it could manage advanced channel processing with accuracy and control. It served as the main brain of the theatre and ensured that the full immersive layout worked as a unified system.
JBL Synthesis SDA-4600
We used 2 JBL Synthesis SDA-4600 power amplifiers for part of the theatre’s amplification needs. The SDA-4600 is a 4-channel bridgeable Class D amplifier that can deliver strong output while remaining space-efficient in the rack. It was a practical and powerful choice for a theatre that needed reliable channel support with flexible installation.
Yamaha MX-A5200
We also used 2 Yamaha MX-A5200 power amplifiers in the theatre system. These amplifiers provided additional multi-channel power support and helped ensure the theatre could deliver stable performance across its various channel groups. In a large cinema project, using more than one amplifier platform can help distribute load efficiently while maintaining control.
Ascendo DNA 1000.2 SE
The subwoofer section was powered by 6 Ascendo DNA 1000.2 SE amplifiers. These amplifiers were used specifically to support the large subwoofer array and deliver the clean, controlled power needed for deep bass reproduction. In a theatre of this scale, subwoofer amplification is one of the most important parts of the system because it directly affects impact and low-end precision.
Source Components and Control
Source Components and Control
For source playback, the theatre used an OPPO BDP-105EU, Apple TV, and UFO Club Cinema source integration. These sources provided high-quality playback options for disc-based content and streaming as well as cinema content management. In a premium theatre, source quality and usability are both important because the system should feel simple to operate while still performing at the highest level.
The complete theatre was controlled through Crestron AV and lighting control, which allowed the client to operate the room with ease and precision. Crestron helped integrate the AV, lighting, and theatre functions into one elegant control environment. This kind of automation is essential in a project of this scale because it turns a complex cinema into a smooth and intuitive experience.
OPPO BDP-105EU
The OPPO BDP-105EU provided high-quality disc playback as the primary source component. In a premium theatre, source quality matters because the rest of the system is capable of revealing every detail in the signal path. It was a dependable choice for a no-compromise private cinema.
Apple TV
Apple TV provided streaming and digital content playback alongside the OPPO player. It gave the client easy access to films and streaming content without complicating the operation of the theatre. This made the room practical for everyday use while still performing at the highest level.
UFO Club Cinema
UFO Club Cinema source integration rounded out the content capabilities of the theatre. It provided cinema content management alongside the disc and streaming sources, giving the client the full range of content access expected in a serious private cinema environment.
Crestron AV and Lighting Control
Crestron AV and lighting control unified the entire theatre into one elegant control environment. It allowed the client to operate AV, lighting, and theatre functions from a single intelligent interface. This kind of automation is essential in a project of this scale because it turns a complex cinema into a smooth and intuitive experience.
Soundproofing and Acoustic Treatment
Soundproofing and Acoustic Treatment
The entire theatre received complete soundproofing and acoustic treatment. This was necessary because a large cinema system can only perform properly when the room is isolated and acoustically controlled. Soundproofing helped contain the audio within the theatre while treatment improved the internal response and listening quality.
With 30 seats and a very large room volume, acoustic planning was critical for maintaining balanced surround performance and clean dialogue. The treatment work helped the system stay controlled even at high playback levels. This was an important part of turning the theatre into a real cinema rather than just a big room with speakers.
