The Client’s Vision
This Worli project was designed as a premium private cinema for a client who wanted a true Dolby Atmos experience inside a luxury urban residence. The brief was very specific: the theatre had to deliver strong cinematic impact, excellent dialogue clarity, deep bass, and an immersive surround field all within a compact 6-seater room. The client wanted the room to feel refined and reference-grade rather than flashy or overdesigned.
The goal was to create a home theatre that could perform like a dedicated cinema while still fitting seamlessly into a high-end Mumbai home. Every detail, from the speaker layout to the projector and screen integration, had to support a serious film-watching experience. The room therefore had to combine acoustic control, technical precision, and visual elegance in one balanced installation.

The Design Challenge
The main challenge in this project was achieving a convincing Dolby Atmos presentation in a compact seating layout without losing balance or precision. A 6-seater theatre can become uneven very quickly if speaker placement, bass distribution, and calibration are not handled carefully. The theatre had to provide a strong front stage, detailed surround movement, convincing overhead effects, and controlled low-frequency performance across every seat.
Another important challenge was making sure the theatre sounded as good as it looked. The JVC projector, 135-inch acoustically transparent screen, and speaker layout all had to work together as one coordinated system meaning the room needed careful tuning after installation so that the final sound was not just powerful, but properly integrated and consistent. Dirac calibration became an essential part of this process.
Speaker System

The entire speaker system was built around Triad’s architectural cinema range, chosen for their ability to deliver cinema-grade dynamics while disappearing cleanly into the walls and ceiling. Their consistent tonal family across the LCR, surround, and height layers ensured that sound moved through the room without tonal shifts critical in an immersive 7.4.4 layout where the listener’s ear tracks audio across many speaker positions simultaneously.

Front LCR : Cinematic Clarity and Impact
Triad InRoom Platinum Series LCR × 3
Three Triad InRoom Platinum Series LCR speakers formed the core of the theatre’s front stage, chosen for their clarity, dynamic ability, and precise dialogue presentation.In a cinema room, the front LCR channels carry the most critical information dialogue intelligibility, musical energy, and cinematic impact and the Platinum Series delivered all three with the authority a 6-seat room requires, without any of the compression that cheaper cinema speakers exhibit at high output levels.

Four Triad Gold Series In-Wall Surround speakers handled both the side and back surround positions, creating a smooth and enveloping sound field around the seating area while keeping the room visually clean. Their in-wall format preserved the theatre’s elegant interior presentation while contributing to the seamless surround continuity that makes a Dolby Atmos theatre feel genuinely immersive from every seat rather than front-focused.

Four Triad Gold Series In-Ceiling Mini Monitor speakers completed the 7.4.4 overhead layer, adding the height dimension and spatial realism that makes Dolby Atmos feel three-dimensional rather than simply directional. Their ceiling-flush integration maintained the room’s refined appearance while delivering the overhead transitions, atmospheric depth, and height-panning effects that define a properly engineered Atmos installation.

Four JL Audio E110 active subwoofers delivered the deep, controlled, and cinematic low-frequency foundation the theatre demanded. The multi-subwoofer design was especially important in a compact 6-seat room because it distributed bass energy more evenly across every seat position, reducing the hot-spots and nulls that a single or dual subwoofer arrangement would create. The result was a tighter, deeper, and more consistent low-end that made every seat feel the same physical weight and impact from LFE content.

Integra DRX-8.4 11.4-Channel Network AV Receiver
The Integra DRX-8.4 11.4-channel network AV receiver provided the processing and amplification backbone for the full 7.4.4 immersive system. Its 11.4-channel capability gave the theatre the headroom needed to power the Triad speaker array and height channels without separate external amplifiers, while its network streaming integration allowed the room to handle modern source devices and streaming platforms with the flexibility a contemporary luxury theatre demands.
JVC DLA-NZ700 Laser Projector
The JVC DLA-NZ700 laser projector delivered the high-quality cinematic image needed to fill a 135-inch screen convincingly for 6 seats. Its laser light source provided consistent brightness and colour accuracy across every screening session giving the theatre a visually premium experience that matched the quality of the Triad audio system over the long term without the maintenance concerns of lamp-based alternatives.
Elite Screens 135-inch Acoustically Transparent Screen
The 135-inch Elite acoustically transparent screen allowed the Triad front LCR speakers to be positioned directly behind it, achieving perfect dialogue localisation between the screen image and the centre channel sound. This cinema-correct arrangement where speech appears to come from the actor’s mouth rather than from beside the screen — is one of the key details that separates a properly engineered theatre from a room that simply contains a large display.
Kordz Signal Cables
Kordz cables were used throughout for both speaker connections and HDMI signal paths, providing reliable performance and clean signal transfer across every connection in the system. In a theatre where the projector, AV receiver, and speaker array are all connected through a structured wiring network, consistent cable quality plays an important role in both audio performance and long-term signal integrity.
Sound Isolation & Acoustic Treatment
Acoustic Treatment and Sound Isolation
To support the performance of the Dolby Atmos system, the theatre was built with the required sound isolation and acoustic treatment measures. This was important not only for reducing sound leakage to adjacent areas of the Worli residence, but also for improving the behaviour of the room itself during playback. In a dedicated 6-seater cinema, untreated reflections and uncontrolled bass can reduce dialogue clarity, weaken surround precision, and make the theatre sound less refined than the equipment is capable of delivering.
The acoustic work created a more controlled environment where the Triad speaker system and JL Audio subwoofers could perform with better balance and accuracy improving speech intelligibility, tightening low-frequency response, and supporting smoother surround and overhead effects across the room. In projects like this, sound isolation and acoustic treatment are not optional extras; they are a core part of turning a good AV system into a truly immersive and professionally finished private theatre.
Dirac Calibration
Dirac Room Calibration : Final Performance Refinement
After installation was completed, the entire theatre was carefully calibrated using Dirac room correction to refine the system’s final performance. This step was especially important because a properly built theatre can still sound very different once the speakers, subwoofers, walls, seating, and room boundaries begin interacting in real use. Dirac measured and adjusted those interactions so the theatre could perform in a more balanced and accurate way.
The calibration improved the relationship between the front speakers, surround channels, height channels, and subwoofers helping the entire sound system behave more like one unified cinema rather than separate components working independently. Dialogue became clearer, bass became tighter and more controlled, and surround movement felt more precise across the room. Dirac also smoothed out tonal variations caused by the room itself, delivering better imaging and more even sound pressure across all 6 seat positions. In a premium theatre like this, calibration is not a finishing touch it is one of the main factors that determines whether the room sounds good or truly exceptional.
