The Client’s Vision
This Shivamogga villa project was designed as a complete 3-storey luxury residence where entertainment, automation, and daily convenience had to come together in a seamless way. The home included 6 bedrooms along with a living room, kitchen, dining area, and a 9-seater home theatre, so the client wanted a solution that could support both family living and premium entertainment across the entire property.
The brief was clear: the house had to deliver multiroom music in all major living spaces, simple whole-home control for lighting and climate, and a serious theatre experience for private cinema use. Every system had to feel elegant, easy to use, and visually clean while still performing at a high level. The final result was a fully integrated villa that combined control, comfort, and entertainment in one refined residential environment.
Design Challenge
The Design Challenge
The main challenge in this project was managing automation and AV across a large 3-storey villa with multiple zones and different usage patterns. Music had to be available in the living room, kitchen, dining area, and all 6 bedrooms, while lighting, fans, AC, and other electronics had to remain easy to control throughout the home. The system also had to include main gate control, adding an important layer of convenience and access management to the automation backbone.
Another challenge was creating a dedicated 9-seater home theatre that could perform at a much higher level than the rest of the house immersive surround sound, proper low-frequency impact, and a large cinematic image, all while maintaining good acoustic discipline. Balancing whole-home simplicity with theatre-grade performance required careful planning and a very coordinated integration approach across all three floors.
Home Automation
Whole-Home Automation : Control4 and KNX Intelligence
Complete house automation was executed using Control4 and KNX systems, giving the villa a strong and reliable control platform. All lights, mood lights, fans, AC, and other electronics could be operated using touchpads or motion sensors, and even the main gate was integrated into the automation network making the home feel both intelligent and highly convenient in daily use.

Lighting Presets and Scene-Based Living
Control4 Home Automation
Control4 unified all AV zones, lighting, and climate functions under one control platform accessible through touchpads and the Control4 app. Day and night lighting presets were created to help the villa transition naturally between daytime use, evening relaxation, and nighttime comfort without constant manual adjustment making the home feel more responsive and luxurious while reducing everyday effort for the family.
KNX Smart Home Bus System
KNX provided the reliable bus-topology backbone for lights, mood lights, fans, AC, and main gate control across all three floors of the villa. Its distributed intelligence ensured that each floor and zone operated independently without a central point of failure, while motion sensors automated key areas so the house responded to occupancy naturally without requiring family members to manage switches manually.
Multiroom Music
Multiroom Music System : Villa-Wide Distributed Audio
Biamp ceiling speakers were installed in the living room, kitchen, dining area, and all 6 bedrooms, allowing music streaming to be available throughout the villa in a discreet and elegant way without disturbing the interior design. The ceiling-mounted approach was especially suitable for a large home where clean aesthetics and even sound coverage were both important. The system was designed to support everyday background listening as well as more active family or social use, making the villa’s audio experience practical and premium at the same time.
Biamp Ceiling Speakers
Biamp ceiling speakers were distributed across every major living space in the villa, providing consistent and discreet audio coverage throughout all three floors. Their ceiling-flush format preserved the interior aesthetics in each room while delivering a premium music experience in every part of the home from the kitchen during morning routines to bedrooms during late-night relaxation.
Biamp Zone Amplifiers
Biamp zone amplifiers powered and managed the distributed audio system, giving the client the flexibility to play music in individual zones or across the whole villa depending on the occasion. Their zone management capability ensured the living room, dining area, kitchen, and all 6 bedrooms could be controlled independently or grouped together, making the multiroom system practical for both quiet daily use and larger family gatherings.
9-Seater Home Theatre
Home Theatre Design, 9-Seat DALI Immersive Cinema
The dedicated 9-seater theatre room was designed to deliver a proper private cinema experience that far exceeded the rest of the villa’s AV capability. DALI Phantom architectural speakers were selected throughout for their ability to disappear into the room structure while delivering cinema-grade dynamics and tonal precision — an ideal solution for a theatre where visual cleanliness and serious audio performance had to coexist.

DALI Phantom S280 × 5
DALI Phantom S280 speakers were used for both the front LCR positions and the back surround positions, providing strong front-stage presence, clear dialogue, and powerful cinematic performance at either end of the room. Their scale and tonal character made them the right choice for a 9-seater theatre where the front image had to feel commanding from every seat and the rear surround field had to match that authority convincingly.
DALI Phantom S80 × 6
Six DALI Phantom S80 speakers formed the side surround layer, wrapping the 9-seat audience in an even and immersive sound field. Their distribution across the side walls ensured smooth panning, convincing envelopment, and consistent surround coverage from the front row to the back row essential in a room where the width of the seating layout requires more surround units than a conventional small theatre.
DALI Phantom K80 In-Ceiling × 4
Four DALI Phantom K80 in-ceiling speakers provided the overhead height dimension required for a convincing immersive cinema presentation. Their flush-ceiling integration maintained the room’s clean architectural appearance while delivering the height effects overhead scoring, atmospheric depth, directional movement that elevate a well-engineered theatre above conventional surround sound.
JL Audio E112 Active Subwoofers × 4
Four JL Audio E112 active subwoofers gave the theatre the deep and controlled bass response needed for a serious home cinema. Using four units across the room ensured even bass distribution across all 9 seat positions, eliminating the hot-spots and dead zones that fewer subwoofers would create at this scale so every viewer felt the same physical weight and impact from blockbuster LFE content.

Bryston BD 225 5-Channel Power Amplifier
The Bryston BD 225 5-channel amplifier powered the front and surround-back DALI Phantom S280 speakers with the precision, headroom, and dynamic control a 9-seat theatre demands. Bryston’s reputation for stability and clean high-current delivery made it the right choice for the most critical channels in the room, where cinematic scale, dialogue intelligibility, and musical authority originate.
Rotel RMB 1555 Multichannel Amplifiers × 2
Two Rotel RMB 1555 multichannel amplifiers drove the remaining surround and height speaker channels with stable, consistent output. Their multi-channel format provided the channel count needed to power the full surround array efficiently, ensuring every position in the immersive sound field remained controlled and dynamic regardless of the complexity of the content.
Marantz AV 10 Audio-Video Processor
The Marantz AV 10 managed the entire theatre signal chain with the processing quality and flexibility needed for an immersive cinema room. Its high-resolution audio processing, comprehensive surround format support, and refined sonic character made it a well-matched centrepiece for the DALI speaker system ensuring the immersive sound field was organized with precision and musicality rather than just channel count.

Projection System : Laser Precision on Transparent Screen
JVC DLA-NZ5 Laser Projector
The JVC DLA-NZ5 laser projector delivered the image quality needed to fill a 150-inch screen convincingly for 9 seats. Its laser light source provided consistent brightness and colour accuracy across every screening session without the degradation of lamp-based alternatives, giving the theatre a visually premium experience that matched the quality of its audio system over the long term.
150-inch Acoustically Transparent Fixed-Frame Screen
The 150-inch acoustically transparent fixed-frame screen allowed the front DALI Phantom speakers to be positioned directly behind it, achieving correct dialogue localisation between the screen image and the centre channel sound the arrangement that defines a properly engineered cinema. The transparent weave ensured no tonal coloration between speakers and audience, and the fixed-frame format maintained a perfectly flat, tensioned surface for the JVC laser image.
