Reference Private Theatre with 7.4.4 Dolby Atmos Cuffe Parade, Mumbai
Cuffe Parade, Mumbai
The Client’s Vision
This Cuffe Parade project was all about creating a private cinema that could deliver the emotional impact of a commercial multiplex while remaining exclusive to the client’s family. The client wanted to feel the same immersion and scale that he normally experienced at INOX, but in a completely private and more refined environment inside a high-rise residential complex. That meant the theatre had to combine premium sound, immersive picture quality, luxury seating, and detailed interior execution without ever feeling like a compromise.
The room was designed as a true dedicated theatre, with attention not only to sound and picture but also to comfort and atmosphere. Since the client wanted a top-tier cinematic experience, every element had to be aligned carefully: projector placement, screen format, speaker layout, soundproofing, acoustic balance, and lighting details such as galaxy ceiling features and footlights. The result had to be more than just a home theatre; it had to feel like a private cinema built to the standards of a luxury commercial auditorium.

Design Challenge
The Design Challenge
Because this project was inside a residential high-rise, sound isolation and vibration control became one of the most important parts of the design. We had to make sure that no noise, low-frequency energy, or structural vibration could reach other residents in the building. At the same time, the theatre needed to sound powerful and dynamic inside the room itself, so the acoustic design had to be highly precise. To solve this, we created a dedicated projection room for electronics and focused heavily on soundproofing, ventilation, and calibration.
Dedicated Theatre Room
Dedicated Theatre Room
The theatre itself was designed as a true private cinema for six viewers, with a carefully engineered 7.4.4 Dolby Atmos layout. This configuration gave the client an immersive surround environment with strong front staging, powerful bass, and detailed overhead effects. The room was built so that all visible details supported the cinematic experience without interfering with acoustics or performance.
The interior finish was treated with equal importance. Footlights, ceiling galaxy effects, and other decorative details were positioned carefully so they would enhance the theatre visually without disturbing sound quality. That balance of design and engineering is what turned this room into a proper luxury cinema rather than just a dark viewing room.

Speaker System
The Speaker System
Bowers & Wilkins CT 7.3 LCR
These speakers formed the front soundstage and provided strong dialogue clarity, directional precision, and balanced tonal performance. They were the right choice for a cinema where the front channels had to handle both quiet conversational scenes and powerful action sequences. Their custom-theatre design also suited the room’s fully integrated architectural approach.
Bowers & Wilkins CT 7.4
These speakers were used to create the wraparound surround field that makes a Dolby Atmos theatre feel truly cinematic. They helped deliver spacious movement and envelopment across the seating area, which was essential in a room built to replicate multiplex-style immersion. Their presence ensured that side and rear effects felt natural and continuous.
Bowers & Wilkins CCM 7.3 and CCM 682
The overhead channels added height information and completed the 7.4.4 layout with accurate Atmos rendering. This gave the room more vertical dimension and made modern immersive soundtracks feel more realistic. The ceiling-based Atmos design worked especially well in a dedicated room where the client wanted full theatrical impact.
Bowers & Wilkins CT SW 15 and CT SW 12
The low-frequency system was built around multiple passive subwoofers to deliver deep, powerful bass across the room. With four CT SW 15 units and additional CT SW 12 units, the theatre gained the scale needed for blockbuster cinema without losing control. This bass foundation was crucial in a room designed to feel larger than its physical size.
Electronics
Electronics
Yamaha CX-A5200 Aventage AV Pre-Processor
This pre-processor handled the advanced surround decoding and system management for the theatre. It was a strong match for a high-end Atmos installation because it offered precise control and flexible routing while maintaining excellent sound quality. Yamaha’s processing helped the cinema stay stable, responsive, and easy to calibrate.
Rotel RMB 1585 and RB1552 Power Amplifiers
Rotel amplifiers were used to provide clean and controlled power to the speaker array. The multi-channel RMB 1585 handled the heavy lifting for the theatre channels, while the RB1552 stereo amplifiers added additional support where needed. This combination gave the system the headroom and authority necessary for reference-level playback.
Bowers & Wilkins SA1000
The Bowers & Wilkins SA1000 subwoofer amplifiers were used to drive the CT SW 15 passive subwoofers and CT SW 12 subwoofers with stable power and precise low-frequency control. This gave the theatre deep, authoritative bass that remained tight and well-integrated with the rest of the 7.4.4 Dolby Atmos system. It was an essential part of achieving the scale and impact expected from a reference private cinema.
Video System
Video System
SIM2 SIRIO 3D DLP Projector
The SIM2 projector was chosen for its strong cinematic performance and ability to handle a premium private theatre environment. It was integrated into a projection room setup to keep the theatre space clean and uncluttered. This allowed the picture system to perform at a high level while remaining visually discreet.
Panamorph Anamorphic Lens
The anamorphic lens was used to support the 2.35:1 Cinemascope format and maximize the use of the screen. This helped create a true widescreen theatrical look that matched the client’s desire for INOX-like immersion. It also made the projected image feel more expansive and professionally calibrated.
Screen Innovations 135″ 2.35:1 Acoustically Transparent Screen
The screen allowed sound to pass through while keeping the front speakers positioned correctly behind it. This is important in a serious theatre because it preserves both sound alignment and a realistic cinematic image. The 2.35:1 format also gave the room a proper commercial-cinema feel.
Source and Playback
Source and Playback
Kaleidescape Cinema One, OPPO BDP-103EU, Apple TV, and UFO Club Cinema provided the content platform for the theatre. These sources gave the client access to premium movie playback, streaming, and network-based cinema content. All electronics were placed in the projection room to keep the theatre space clean and uncluttered.
UFO Club Cinema
UFO Club Cinema was integrated as an additional content source to give the client access to curated movie content through a dedicated cinema network platform. This added flexibility to the theatre’s source chain and supported the idea of a private cinema that could deliver fresh, convenient entertainment beyond standard disc playback and streaming. It complemented the Kaleidescape, OPPO, and Apple TV sources by expanding the client’s viewing options inside one unified theatre system.

Luxury Seating
Recliner Seating
The theatre was fitted with six premium Little Nap recliners to complete the private cinema experience. These seats were selected for comfort and function, with hot and cold cupholders, USB charging, butler call buttons, and foldable tables. That gave the room a true luxury-theatre feel and made long movie sessions much more comfortable.
Little Nap Recliners
These recliners added the final layer of comfort to the theatre and made the room feel like a proper private multiplex. The integrated convenience features made them ideal for extended viewing sessions without sacrificing elegance. In a theatre of this quality, seating comfort is just as important as audio and picture performance.
Acoustic Engineering & Control
Soundproofing and Acoustic Treatment
Because the theatre was built inside a residential building, soundproofing was treated as a top priority. The room was designed so that bass energy and vibration would stay inside the theatre and not affect other residents. Acoustic treatment was also carefully planned to support accurate sound reproduction and improve the overall cinematic result.
This part of the project was critical because even a powerful speaker system cannot perform properly without a controlled environment. The combination of sound isolation, room treatment, and calibration allowed the theatre to reach its full potential. It also protected the client’s investment by ensuring the room could perform consistently for years.
Crestron Control and Calibration
Crestron AV and lighting control made the theatre easy to operate while keeping the user experience elegant. The client could manage the room through a simple control interface rather than dealing with multiple remotes or separate systems. That was important in a premium private theatre where simplicity and sophistication must go hand in hand.
Calibration also received extraordinary attention. We spent nearly 10 days fine-tuning the sound system and projector, including advanced HDR calibration, so that every seat and every visual detail performed correctly. That level of tuning was essential for a theatre designed to outperform commercial cinema expectations.
