The Client’s Vision
This Peddar Road duplex was designed as a modern luxury residence where technology had to feel advanced, elegant, and completely integrated into the architecture. The client wanted the top-most modern house with the best available technology at the time, but without allowing AV equipment to disturb the interior design. The brief was very clear: the living room should deliver serious stereo and theatre performance, the family room should be elegant and easy to use, and all bedrooms should have televisions and supportive speakers while preserving a clean visual finish.
The house was also intended to be highly intelligent and effortless to live in. There were no traditional switches in the property, so the entire residence had to be managed through motion sensors, smart switches, touchpads, iPhones, and automated scenes. The client wanted a home that would feel truly premium in everyday use, not just impressive on paper. That meant we had to combine hidden infrastructure, high-end audio, careful room-by-room planning, and seamless automation into one cohesive project.
The Design Challenge
The biggest challenge was to preserve a refined interior while delivering top-tier AV performance across multiple zones. The living room had to remain visually clean despite housing high-end speakers and projection equipment, the family room needed beautiful music playback without bulky electronics, and the bedrooms had to support TV and audio without compromising the designer’s aesthetic. In addition, all AV electronics had to be hidden in a server room, which meant signal transport, equipment placement, and control logic had to be planned with great care.
Living Room Theatre
The 700 sq. ft. living room was designed as a 7.2 home theatre and high-fidelity entertainment space using Bowers & Wilkins 800 D3 series speakers. This room was the visual and acoustic centrepiece of the house, so the system had to sound spectacular while still looking elegant. Only the front speakers and McIntosh monoblocks were visible; all other amplifiers and electronics were hidden in the server room, which kept the room clean and impressive.

Bowers & Wilkins 800 D3 Front Speakers
These speakers formed the main front channels and delivered the core of the theatre and music experience. They were chosen because they offer reference-level detail, scale, and musical authority, making them ideal for a luxurious living room where performance had to match the interior quality. Their design also made them a strong visual statement without looking intrusive.
Bowers & Wilkins HTM1 D3 Center Speaker with Stand
The center speaker anchored dialogue and front-stage cohesion in the living room theatre. It matched the 800 D3 front speakers tonally, which is essential for seamless cinematic sound. Its placement on a stand allowed proper alignment while preserving the room’s premium appearance.
Bowers & Wilkins 805 D3 Surround Speakers with Stands
These four surround speakers created the immersive side and rear sound field. Their elegant stand-mounted design suited the formal living room and allowed precise positioning without wall clutter. They helped the theatre sound spacious, balanced, and emotionally engaging.
Bowers & Wilkins DB1 Subwoofers
Dual DB1 subwoofers supplied deep low-frequency impact and bass control. They added weight to movies and music while remaining refined enough for a high-end living environment. Their role was critical in making the 7.2 system feel complete and powerful.

McIntosh MC601 Monoblock Power Amplifiers
These monoblocks were used to drive the front speakers with authority and control. Their blue meters became one of the few visible electronics in the room, and they also matched the premium identity of the space. They gave the 800 D3 speakers the current and finesse needed for high-end playback.
Rotel RMB 1555 Power Amplifier
This multi-channel amplifier powered the remaining theatre channels with stable output. It was chosen to support the surround system reliably while keeping the main listening experience clean and balanced. Hidden in the server room, it helped maintain the minimalist living room design.
McIntosh MX160 A/V Processor
The MX160 served as the control and decoding hub for the living room theatre. It provided advanced surround management and high-end processing for both cinema and music. Its inclusion gave the system flexibility and refinement suitable for a serious private cinema setup.
JVC DLA-X700 Projector
The projector handled the visual side of the living room theatre and delivered high-quality cinematic projection. It was concealed through a Future Automation lift, which kept the room neat when not in use. That made the space feel like a luxury living room first and a theatre only when needed.
Elite 135″ In-Ceiling ALR Projector Screen
The screen was integrated into the ceiling so the room could stay visually clean. Its ALR surface helped maintain strong image quality in a premium living environment. This was a very effective solution for a living room that needed both elegance and serious projection capability.
Future Automation Projector Lift
The lift allowed the JVC projector to remain hidden until movie time. It added convenience and preserved the clean architectural look of the room. This was important in a space where the interior designer did not want visible AV clutter.

Family Living Room
The family living room was designed for easy everyday music playback with a strong visual identity. Instead of a large AV stack, we used the Bang & Olufsen A9 Gen2 because it is elegant, simple to use, and beautiful enough to sit comfortably in a premium family room. It gave the client an easy AirPlay-based music solution that suited relaxed family living.

This speaker was chosen because it combines sculpture-like design with quality sound and very simple operation. It fits naturally in a family room where music should be enjoyable without making the space feel technical. The AirPlay connection also made it easy for the client to stream music instantly.
Bedrooms
Each bedroom was fitted with a Bang & Olufsen BeoVision 14 55-inch television and a BeoSound 35 soundbar. This gave every room a clean and premium entertainment solution that matched the interior design. The concept was to keep the system elegant, simple, and visually refined while still offering good TV sound and easy daily use.

This television was selected because it offers a sleek and premium look that suits luxury bedrooms very well. It allowed the client to enjoy television without compromising décor quality.

The soundbar added better audio performance to each bedroom TV while keeping the installation discreet. It was a practical and elegant solution for a bedroom environment where users want simplicity and refined sound.
Crestron and KNX Automation
The entire house was controlled through Crestron AV and KNX lighting automation. Motion sensors, smart switches, touchpads, and iPhone control made the home easy to operate without traditional wall switches. The client could also use preset programs for different moods and activities, which made everyday living smoother and more luxurious.
This control system was an important part of the project because it unified the house into one smart environment. It covered lighting, AV, and scene control while preserving the clean design language that the interior designer wanted. The result was a modern home that felt intelligent, elegant, and effortless.
